Loveable and eccentric Erlene Markham stars as the feisty senior adult from the popular Elmo Jenkins novels. Readers will enjoy following Erlene's point of view as she takes on the stuffy new administrator at the Ackerman ALF where she resides. Ms. Merryweather Succop may be highly qualified to get the ALF out of the red, but she's sorely lacking in the TLC department. As the two head-strong ladies brace for the inevitable showdown, Erlene calls in Elmo and Father Ted for reinforcement.

Who will survive this epic throw down?

In this new novelette series, author McMillian Moody gives readers a sneak peek into the colorful lives of the supporting characters in his Elmo Jenkins novels. - OBT Bookz

This is a short read - took me about an hour. But it was very enjoyable. Erlene has admitted herself into an assisted living facility and has been a challenge to the staff. But everything she has done has been to make life better for the other residents. Now the administrator is scheming to get her out. For those of you who have read the Elmo series, you will get a much better understanding of Erlene and develop great admiration for her faith and motives along the way. I highly recommend it.

Evicting Erlene The Elmo Jenkins Novelettes Book 1 edition by McMillian Moody Religion Spirituality eBooks Reviews

What's t say about Erlene? I've met her in a couple of churches so far, and here Moody sets down yet another of her adventures!
enjoyed the rest of this author's series, so picked this one for free on my app. it was lite hearted and amusing, perfect for the mood I was in. with just a bit of God thrown in, it had a nice positive message without being too "preachy"
I love McMillian Moody's books. Having been a pastor's wife for a number of years I could relate to much of It -- "Been there, done that!" And now that I am in an ALR I could definitely relate to Erlene and her situations. It was real to life in many ways and funny. It helped me find humor in some of our circumstances.
Erlene is one feisty lady. With a tendency to fight the establishment, she finally figures out that God had a plan when she moved into the assisted living facility. And everyone is better, including Erlene when she sees the bigger picture. Erlene is a member of First Church, one of Elmo's parishioners. Another great addition to the Elmo series.
Erlene fascinated me in the first Elmo book by McMillian Moody - if you haven't read Somethings Never Change I hope you will - it's a hoot! I'm delighted the author decided to let Erlene tell us more of her story. And what a story it is! I laughed out loud, cheered her on in my heart, and booed silently when she was threatened. I still love the way she catches Elmo (and me!) off-guard. Erlene is a a former missionary who is a little bit naughty and a whole lot of fun!
Light-hearted, clean, spirited mystery set in a nursing home and clearly meant for the older folks (of which I am one -doh!) Had to chortle when I read this exchange, ' "You see, the baby was still attached to the umbilical cord." "So what'd you do?" "That's easy. I simply reeled him in as if I were a fisherman." (I simply can't get that image out of my mind!) Given the humor present and knowing there are more books in the Elmo Jenkins series I'd give it a nod (and by that I don't mean 'nod off' ) and read more of these fun books!
As a follower of the Elmo Jenkins books, I really looked forward to reading this novelette that features the eccentric Erlene...and I was not disappointed. McMillian Moody scores again with an entertaining read --and what I consider a fabulous character. As a church worker for over 34 years, I have seen "Erlene" in some form or another in several instances where an 'unusual' personality makes for delightful interaction (usually!). I have found these books to be such fun to read, and I have loved the entire experience, going through Elmo's daily routine with the spice that never seems lacking in life for a church staff member. I can highly recommend this and all the Elmo Jenkins books.
