Dear Reader. Extension 1788 is inspired by actual events. It was my extension while employed primarily as a numerologist on a psychic line. On rare occasions, callers’ concerns sent shivers of chills through me. I desired not to linger and would swiftly wrap up those calls. One such call is revealed in Chapter 3 of the book. In this case, I changed the storyline lest the actual caller ever read Extension 1788. Most callers wanted quick readings on a specific aspect of their life love, finances or winning lottery numbers. Occasionally, I received clear messages as to whether a caller would win. One actual event is related in Chapter 4 of the first book. Gradually I developed a following and kept notes on these callers as they were not inclined to repeat previous conversations. Many I lost sleep over. The references to the June 2, 1976 car bombing murder of Don Bolles, a reporter for The Arizona Republic newspaper who succumbed to death June 13, 1976 as told by the character Gracie, is found in Chapter 24. On a personal note. . . One evening shortly after Don Bolles death, a terrified co-worker asked me to accompany her to the Caliente Club in Phoenix. Once there, I followed her to a small group of people gathered around a table, hands clasped around their cocktail glasses, some chain smoking revealing nervous twitches, others staring quietly into their drinks. Once my co-worker vouched for me, one or two nodded but the rest stared unrelenting in their acceptance of me. When the volume of the music ramped up, my co-worker placed her hand on my arm and suggested I step back, out of earshot, to which I quickly complied. Not ten minutes later we were out the door. Fear engraved in the lines on her face, she made a straight shot to her vehicle. I had many questions but asked none. As her hand reached for the door handle, she said, “This whole thing has a lot of people scared, really scared.” Over the next few months as the investigation into his death unfolded, she grew more agitated. Her comments to me more cryptic until one day, on the way to the lunchroom, she stated the basis for her fears. That experience, her experience, was seared into my mind and one I would reflect on frequently. Years later, I felt compelled to weave some of this far-reaching tragic historical occurrence into the fictional characters in the Extension 1788 series. www.annshirley.net Ann Shirley lives in northern Arizona

Ann Shirley really knows how to tell a story. In this book we get a delightful look into the life a psychic phone operator who is unwittingly drawn into a suspenseful adventure through one of her callers. Our main character's instincts and knowledge of numerology save the day and solve a 50-year-old murder mystery, but causes her to forfeit her identity to keep safe. There are two other books in this series: "Shadow Threat," and "Trickles of Truth." I must admit that I read all three of these books in one weekend. I couldn't put them down!! Ann Shirley provides rich details in her storytelling, but does not overdo it. She gives the reader a chance to use their own imagination and really get involved in the story line. There are also moments of comedy that are very well delivered. Highly recommend reading all three!Product details

Extension 1788 Ann Shirley 9781466223103 Books Reviews
I really am not into mysteries that much. But I was given this as a early Christmas present and I could not read it fast enough to get to the end. Very interesting as I remember some the events that Ann writes about, so it was exciting to me. The adventure in the mystery is very believable and I loved the book. Cant wait till the next chapter of the books. Good read, and I suggest it highly.
I don't own a and can't wait for the book to come out in printed hard copy. The preview left me in suspense not knowing what Charley is going to do next. One of my hobbies is reading about numerology. The descriptions provided by the employee on extension 1788 utilize tarot cards and knowledge from an occult background, as well as numerology. It's intriguing and the detail that describes the secret office underground led me to believe that the main character was doomed, but then it took a surprising turn. An easy page turner read. I easily identified with the character of a resolute woman on her own running from danger while at the same time using her gifts to chase down the truth.
The author artistically threads numerology into the plot which adds a bit of super- natural to balance out this mystery.
Have to say this book is excellent.Couldn't put it down and just finished early this morning.
I love reading books of authors like James Patterson etc. and I must say this book was right up there
with them.
Can't wait for book 2 to come out! Wonder if Amy reunites with her friends in part 2!
A must read!!!
loved it, and now I must get the next installment of Amy's wild and crazy life! The story begins, then flashes back to recount events leading up to her situation.
I ordered the digital version of this book. I would classify this story as a cozy suspense/mystery - one of the types of books I love to read. The protagonist is one of those telephone psychics who inadvertantly becomes involved in learning about a murder. Her wits, psychic ability and knowledge of numerology are forefront in helping her solve a big mystery. I highly recommend this book. There is also a sequel called Shadow Threat - also a story I thoroughly enjoyed. Both are fast-paced, page-turners, with very occasional comic relief thrown in, which is to my liking.
